Bi Bim Bop Recipe

We used to live in South Korea for 2 years.  It was a great experience.  One of the things we miss the most is the food.  We lived in Germany too for 4 years and I am fine without their food.  But I crave Korean food!  It really is that good!  My mouth is watering just thinking about it and looking at these pictures.  I have a recipe that came close to my favorite dish, Bi Bim Bop.  It is delicious!  If you want to see what Korean food is like this is a good place to start.

Bi Bim Bop at a South Korean restaurant.

Some of the recipes to choose from.  In South Korea they had pictures and plastic replicas of all their dishes.  Made it easy to order for us Americans who could not figure the language out.

Bi Bim Bop Recipe

2 cups white rice (cook)

I used 1 pound chicken (dark meat), can use 1 pound lean beef

*Marinade For Meat:
2 cloves garlic,
2 scallions
5 T soy sauce
2 T sugar
2 T veg. oil
1 t sesame seeds
pepper

Cook meat on bbq or in frying pan

*Vegetables
Carrots
frozen spin
bean sprouts
(you can use whatever you want.  I used broccoli cole slaw, bean sprouts, spinach, and cucumbers)

Fry carrots or cole slaw in veg oil till tender set aside in bowl.
Fry cooked spin. in veg oil with slt and pepper then set aside in bowl
Boil bean sprouts in 1/4 cup water and little slt for 3 min.  Drain and set aside in bowl

Cut up cucumbers into small slices and set aside in bowl

Fry eggs, over med.  Set aside

You also need Korean Paste Ko Chee Chang
can also add Kimchee if available

Each person can take what likes.  Put couple scoops of rice in bowl.  ( I added butter for the kids since they were not going to use the paste)  Then add all the veggies you would like and meat then an egg on top and then the paste.  Then stir till all mixed up and then eat and enjoy!

This is how our plate turned out.  It was actually really good.  The kids loved it too.  The red paste is spicy so we didn't put any on the kid plates.
